Care Instructions

The various care instructions for my art. I make practical, usable, works of art and because they see actual use, they require some actual care sometimes. If you dont clean your cutting boards after you use them something is wrong with you ;). If you ever have any questions about your product or something doesn't seem right, please reach out to me at Lewiscraftingco@gmail.com . Enjoy!

Care Instructions!

Cutting Boards

  • Clean your cutting board with soap and warm water on both sides. Do Not Soak! Not Dishwasher Safe!
    Dry Thoroughly after washing.

  • Store Your Cutting Board Upright in a dry place to avoid warping.

  • Your cutting board comes seasoned with mineral oil but after use, (every month or two) you will need to apply either, more mineral oil or a cutting board butter of your choosing.

  • Keep it dry and oiled and this cutting board will last you many wonderful meals!

Thank you so much for your purchase! Bon Appetit!

Belts

  • Leather is an incredibly durable and long lasting material. If this belt is well taken care of, it will last you decades.

  • Leather does best out of direct sunlight and not wet. This doesn’t mean you can’t wear it in the heat or rain it just means make sure its dry and not in direct sunlight while it isn’t around your waist.

  • Periodically if the belt is looking dry, it can be rejuvenated with leather oil. This belt was originally finished with Fiebing’s Neatsfoot Oil (a ridiculous name I know), but any leather oil will work.

  • It can be cleaned with any leather cleaner if it becomes dirty. I love Fiebing’s saddle soap but again, your favorite leather cleaner will work.

  • The belt will be very stiff since it is brand new, but it will quickly soften with use and age.

  • Your belt will become softer, darker and shinier with age and use.

Guitar Straps

  • Leather is an incredibly durable and long lasting material. If this strap is well taken care of, you can give it to your grandkids.

  • Leather, like guitars, does best out of direct sunlight and not wet. If you wouldn't put your guitar there, don't put the strap there either.

  • Periodically (every few years) if the strap is looking dry, it can be rejuvenated with leather oil. This strap was originally finished with Fiebing’s Neatsfoot Oil (a ridiculous name I know), but any leather oil will work.

  • It can be cleaned with any leather cleaner if it becomes dirty. I love Fiebing’s saddle soap but again, your favorite leather cleaner will work.

  • The strap will be very stiff and tight around the pegs at the start, but all of that softens with age. If the holes on the strap are really too small for your guitar, you can lengthen the slit that leads to the hole with a sharp knife or blade.

  • This guitar strap will become softer, darker and shinier with age and use. Happy Playing!

Camera Straps

  • Leather is an incredibly durable and long lasting material. If this strap is well taken care of, you can give it to your grandkids.

  • Leather, like cameras, does best out of direct sunlight and water. If you wouldn't put your camera there, don't put the strap there either.

  • Periodically if the strap is looking dry, it can be rejuvenated with leather oil. This strap was originally finished with Ausie Oil, but any leather oil will work.

  • It can be cleaned with any leather cleaner if it becomes dirty. I love Fiebing’s saddle soap but again, your favorite leather cleaner will work.

  • The strap will be somewhat stiff when it’s new, but all of that softens quickly with use and time.

  • This camera strap will become softer, darker and shinier with age and use.

Happy picture taking!

Forged Items

  • Steel is an incredibly durable material and doesn't require much in the way of care. The one thing you have to watch out for is moisture which will cause it to rust. All forged products should be kept dry when not in use.

  • Rust can always be sanded off and the steel heated up and oiled (just like a cast iron) to bring it back to its beautiful black color and protective coat.

  • My food grade forged items like the cheese knives are finished with canola oil. And the rest of the items are finished with beeswax.
